Computing

Computing is vital to our curriculum at Wellington Primary School in order to develop our children into competent and responsible global citizens that can connect meaningfully with the increasingly complex world around them.

At Wellington the Computing curriculum has been planned so that children will:

  • Become ambitious, independent users of computing technologies, gaining confidence and enjoyment from their learning
  • Acquire life-skills that will enable them to embrace and utilise new technology in a socially responsible and safe way in order to thrive
  • Be inspired by famous computer scientists and their inventions
  • Develop high levels of technical knowledge in how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming, how to create programs, systems and a range of content
  • Use technical language to communicate their learning in a variety of outcomes and to a range of audiences
  • Understand the world through computational thinking and creativity
  • Develop creativity, resilience, problem solving skills and critical thinking skills
  • Be digitally literate and competent end-users of technology – at a level suitable for the future work place
